Chinese automaker BAIC is pushing ahead with plans to expand its vehicle assembly plant in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. The announcement came after Chinese Ambassador Wu Peng visited BAIC headquarters in Beijing, where the company reaffirmed its intention to grow its South African operation. The SA facility, housed within the Coega Special Economic Zone, has been operational since 2018.
