Ltd has signed an agreement with a Malaysian company called EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) to manufacture BAIC vehicles locally in Malaysia for the next 10 years.
Through this partnership, EPMB’s fully-owned subsidiary, Peps-JV (Melaka) Sdn Bhd (PJVM), will assemble and produce BAIC vehicles in Malaysia. The first models they plan to make are the BJ40 Plus and X55II SUVs, which are expected to be launched in 2025.
State-of-the-Art Production Facility
These vehicles will be produced at EPMB’s upcoming state-of-the-art automotive plant in Melaka, which will have an impressive annual production capacity of 30,000 units.
BAIC will provide comprehensive technical support, training, guidance, and supervision concerning the assembly and manufacturing process to ensure that the locally assembled vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Expanding Presence In The ASEAN Region
BAIC will be responsible for the sales and marketing of the vehicles in the ASEAN region, aiming to maximise market penetration and brand visibility.
This strategic partnership not only underscores BAIC’s commitment to expanding its global footprint but also highlights Malaysia’s conducive business environment, skilled workforce, and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
